DEATHCRASH SONGS FOR M, I-IV

Following the release of 'Bind' and 'People Thought My Windows Were Stars', London-based post-rock ensemble deathcrash have unveiled a near 19-minute b-side, titled 'songs for m, i-iv'. Showcasing their patient and diligent songwriting style, 'songs for m, i-iv' feels more like an EP or a collection of ideas than a single track. It feels authentic and not overthought, and that's what we like about it, as slow-paced drums push along a languid tapestry of intertwining guitars and bass. Sparsely enhanced by gritty analogue samples or half-whispered vocals, 'songs for m, i-iv' is a stunning exercise of restraint. In spite of a set up that could easily ensue overwhelming walls of sound, deathcrash's embrace of space and silence speak volumes. Watch the complimentary visuals by the band and filmmaker Peter Treherne here now. -Holly Mullineaux
